A Moment before We Start Today
I am taking a quiet moment alone this morning before we start the process of getting everyone to church. I am dreading today but yesterday at the funeral home was special in an awful kind of way. So many caring people attended that I am truly amazed. I knew I have been living on others strength lately but now I know how I have been able to get through these last few days. Every single person that was there has helped Steve or me to cope by sharing our pain, and yet as so many people stated they cannot even begin to imagine this pain. It is true. The pain of the death of a child is unlike any feeling I have ever experienced.

Friends truely are God's greatest gift. Their hearts break along with yours.
Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. . . . For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.
-Isaiah 41:10, 13
A very tough day indeed-but what a celebration of John's life. It is wonderful to see how many lives he touched in such a positive way. To celebrate life's joys and life's sorrows with others who love you is a special thing. Thank you for sharing a very special son's very special life.
Stanfords,
I can only imagine what you all are going through right now. My thoughts and prayers are with you and I know that John is in a better place.
John was a such good friend to everyone he met and I will always remember the fun things we did together; Yearly trips to cedar point to try out the new rides, building rock paths through the creek behind the houses, playing endless hours of nintendo until we mastered all the games we played, meeting up before Michigan/Ohio State games, snorkling and finding baracudas in the bahamas, and the list goes on. I hope my happy memories with John do a little something to make your memories of him stronger.
Sincerly,
Tom Mahon
